about the album
submarine is the marías' second studio album! it has 14 tracks and it is very coherent with it's sound throughout, but it is not tiring in any way. each track is distinct from the other and the lyricism is as great as always!!! their lyrics are always so beautiful!!♡
honestly, i can say that i like all of their releases, the reason i'm writing about this album and not any other is because it is their most recent. they have entered a new era sonically and generally while still strongly maintaining their artist identity. this album is quite perfect dare i say. at least for me. it's not the happiest songs you'll hear haha but nonetheless a wonderful album. their earlier releases are also incredible. they combine a lot of the sounds that i like in music so i really really enjoy their discography.
i don't think i can name a favorite off this album honestly, but i do have to mention sienna... it's the last song on the album and oh my god... i really don't know how to describe it, the meaning is just heart-breaking:(( there is comfort in that song but so is pain. i really recommend listening to it!! it did tear my heart into pieces T_T
i had the greatest opportunity to go to one of their shows in london for their tour with submarine and it was honestly a life changing experience. maría is absolutely magnetic and the whole show was just so great. hearing my favorite songs was so surreal and live they sounded better than ever.
